NFL injury report, Week 4: Jake Locker injury changes AFC South

The Titans will be without their starting quarterback for a while, leaving them as a sitting duck at the top of the AFC South standings.

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

The Tennessee Titans improved to 3-1 with a big win over the New York Jets in Week 4, but the optimism surrounding the team was certainly dulled when quarterback Jake Locker was carted off the field Sunday. Expected to miss as many as eight weeks, the Titans' share of first place in the AFC South suddenly seems very shaky.

The rest of the division managed to avoid serious injuries for the most part, leaving the Titans as a sitting duck at the top of the standings. Tied with the Titans are the Indianapolis Colts, who managed to handily defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars, 37-3, on Sunday. A foot injury for rookie outside linebacker Bjoern Werner was the only significant loss for the Colts in Week 4 and an MRI is scheduled to look for structural damage.

Linebacker Brian Cushing left the Houston Texans' overtime loss to the Seattle Seahawks with a concussion and was replaced by rookie Justin Tuggle. With a road game upcoming against the San Francisco 49ers, the inclusion of Cushing in the lineup is critical for a Texans team that needs to get back on track after consecutive losses.

Things went from bad to worse for the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 4, as the expected return of tight end Marcedes Lewis lasted just a couple plays before his calf strain forced him out once again. After a lengthy recovery from the injury that hampered him in preseason, Lewis said on Monday that the injury has him "back to square one." Also dinged up for the Jaguars were rookie Denard Robinson and starting cornerback Alan Ball.
