There will be a second NFL game on Sunday night this week as the Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers will play a late game starting at 8:35 p.m. PT, according to Paul Gutierrez. The game will air on the NFL Network.

Sunday’s kickoff has been pushed back due to the Oakland Athletics’ playoff series.

The switch will accommodate the Oakland Athletics, who are scheduled to host the Detroit Tigers at 6:07 p.m. local time on Saturday, which wouldn’t allow the stadium enough time to convert from a baseball to football venue. News of the switch wasn’t a surprise, as Major League Baseball and the NFL examined the possibility of a 10/6 problem back in early September. Discussions were on the table to switch home games between the two sides, which would have been feasible due to both playing in the AFC West.
Initially the Raiders and Chargers were expected to kickoff at 1:25 p.m. PT, giving the grounds crew a little over 12 hours to convert the stadium and set it up for the afternoon football game. This did not include time needed by teams to survey the field and go through their warmups, making the task impossible.
Oakland’s O.co Coliseum remains the last NFL venue that shares a team with a baseball franchise.
