Titans will workout David Carr, John Skelton, possibly Matt Leinart

With Jake Locker expected to miss at least a few weeks, Tennessee is set to workout a couple of veteran quarteracks.

Ryan Fitzpatrick will fill in for Jake Locker in Tennessee, but the Titans are still searching for a backup to Fitzpatrick. Tennessee will workout David Carr and John Skelton on Tuesday and have also discussed Matt Leinart, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Carr and Skelton were both released during final cuts after losing backup quarterback battles. Carr was released by the Giants after a lengthy stay in New York while Skelton spent training camp with Cincinnati following three seasons in Arizona. Neither quarterback received much interest after being released with many teams deciding to keep just two quarterbacks on the active roster.

Carr offers a more experienced option, although he’s attempted just 16 regular-season passes since 2010. Skelton won quarterback competition in Arizona last year, but was injured in the first game of the season. He went on to start six games and was benched later in the year.

Leinart signed with Buffalo late in training camp and released less than a week later. The Titans could also promote Rusty Smith from the practice squad to the active roster. Locker is expected to miss at least four weeks and could land on injured reserve with the designation to return.
