At halftime on Sunday, the Houston Texans were flying high. They led 20-3 over the Seattle Seahawks and appeared on their way to a 3-1 start. An overtime loss later and the they were 2-2 and reeling. The Texans held a players-only meeting on Monday and Matt Schaub was one of the players who led it.

Schaub came under fire after his interception led to Seattle's game-tying defensive touchdown. It was the third straight game in which Schaub threw a pick-six. Some fans called for Schaub to be benched while Tania Ganguli said there was obvious anger and frustration in the postgame locker room.
The impact of players-only meetings is often overstated, but it may not be in this case. Houston’s defense has played extremely well, only to see the opposing teams get on the scoreboard due to turnovers. Safety Daniel Manning said there wasn’t a divide in the Houston locker room and the team was behind Schaub.
“Matt, we’re riding behind him 100 percent,” Manning said, via ESPN. “I don’t think anyone -- of course we were all pissed off about plays, everybody’s like that. DBs make mistakes, you want the whole team to be upset, even the player that made the mistake, you should say something. Matt has been a man about this whole time. He told us how he felt, what’s going to change, what needs to change. ... On the defensive side players stepping up saying things. I believe at this point today we really have a change in the way that we’re going to approach the next game.”
In addition to Schaub, Andre Johnson, Antonio Smith and Ed Reed also spoke during the meeting. It's impossible to know the impact of the meeting just yet, but we'll see if the Texans eliminate some of the mistakes that have plagued them early in the season. Houston travels to San Francisco for a key game against the 49ers on Sunday night.
