The Jets released Brady Quinn on Saturday, but it’s possible they will bring him back on Monday.

The Jets had a financial incentive to release Quinn. According to the Daily News, his salary would have been guaranteed if he stayed on the roster past 4 p.m. on Saturday. The team is expected to re-sign him on Monday.
Until then, the Jets will go with Geno Smith and Matt Simms on the active roster for Sunday's opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mark Sanchez will be inactive with a shoulder injury.
Quinn is on his third team in less than a year. He signed with the Seattle Seahawks in the offseason, but was released at final cuts after being outplayed by Tarvaris Jackson in the preseason. When the Jets bring him back, he is expected to serve as the third quarterback until Sanchez's shoulder is healthy.
