Bruno Mars will perform Super Bowl halftime show, per report

The suspenseful wait is over: Bruno Mars will reportedly perform this year’s Super Bowl halftime show.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Bruno Mars will be performing at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show in February, according to the Associated Press. The NFL has yet to confirm the report.

If true, the move signals a continued effort by the NFL to get back to more modern acts performing at halftime after a string of 70s stars during the 2000s. Beyonce performed the show last year, with Madonna and the Black Eyed Peas in the years before that.

Mars has sold more than 10 million albums and 58 million singles in his singing career. He has been nominated for 14 Grammy Awards and won one, for best pop vocal performance on “Just The Way You Are.” Mars is best known for other hit songs including “When I Was Your Man”, Locked Out of Heaven”, “Treasure” and “Grenade”.

No secondary acts have been announced or are currently rumored to appear alongside Mars at this time. Last year, Beyonce was the only performer, though there was a surprise portion dedicated to a reunion of her old group Destiny’s Child.
