Oakland Raiders left tackle Jared Veldheer has been placed on injury reserve with a designation to return. The Raider promoted Matt McCants from the practice squad to take his place on the roster.
Jared Veldheer injury: Raiders place LT on IR with designation to return
The Raiders put left tackle Jared Veldheer on IR/designated to return, keeping out until at least Week 9 with a torn triceps.

Under the new injured reserve rules, Veldheer won’t be eligible to play until Week 9 of this season and won’t be allowed to practice until after Week 8. Veldheer suffered a partially torn triceps in training camp and underwent surgery on August 15.
Veldheer's injury throws the Raiders offensive line into complete disarray. Rookie Menelik Watson was expected to get the start at left tackle, but he's been ruled out of Week 1 with a knee injury. The new left tackle is Khalif Barnes, moving over from the right side, but he hasn't played on the left side since 2008. Newly signed Tony Pashos will be starting at right tackle.
Terrelle Pryor will likely be running for his life on Sunday. When Pryor isn't scrambling, Darren McFadden could struggle to find running lanes.
