Falcons vs. Saints inactives, Week 1: Asante Samuel out for Atlanta

The Falcons and the Saints have released their inactive lists for Sunday’s game. The Falcons will have ironman Roddy White suit up, but will be without cornerback Asante Samuel as they face Drew Brees.

The Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints have submitted their inactive lists for Sunday as the two teams will soon kick off their 2013 seasons against one another.

The Falcons have some good news and some bad news with their injured players. Wide receiver Roddy White is not listed as inactive and should play in his 189th consecutive game. In fact, over his eight seasons, White has never missed a game. However, he is reportedly experiencing a good deal of pain in his sprained ankle and may only see limited action.

Atlanta may need all the offensive firepower they can get. Going up against one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL in Drew Brees, the defense will be without four time pro-bowler and starting cornerback Asante Samuel in the backfield. Samuel was questionable coming into the game with a thigh injury, and the Falcons had hoped he would be able to play. Unfortunately, he was officially ruled out.
