Packers vs. 49ers 2013: Boldin ‘did everything’ in victory

In a hard-fought rematch of the NFC Divisional playoffs last year, the 49ers came out on top.

The San Francisco 49ers beat the Green Bay Packers 34-28 on Sunday afternoon, rolling to a 1-0 record to begin the 2013 season.

Colin Kaepernick was terrific throughout the game, throwing for 412 yards and three touchdowns. He certainly had ample help with the new addition of wide receiver Anquan Boldin who dominated the Packers secondary for 13 catches, 208 yards and a score.

Aaron Rodgers was his usual self, but it wasn't enough on this day. Rodgers completed 21 of 37 attempts for 333 yards and three touchdowns while having an interception on a pass off the hands of Jermichael Finley.

Over at Niners Nation, David Fucillo wrote about the impact of Boldin, who was by far the best player on the field outside of the quarterbacks:

The star of the game was wide receiver Anquan Boldin. The 49ers traded a sixth round pick for him, and it is already more of a robbery than we first thought. Boldin had one of the best games of his career, hauling in 13 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown. Boldin had a key fourth and short catch in the fourth quarter that helped the 49ers put this one away. He did everything, whether it be great route-running, great hands and clutch catches. The 49ers could not have possibly expected anything more in Boldin's debut.

Jason Hirschhorn at ACME Packing Company shares his opinion on left tackle David Bakhtiari, who is starting thanks to a truckload of injuries:

Matching up with San Francisco's pass rushers is about as unlucky a draw for a rookie tackle in his first start as possible, yet Bakhtiari kept Aaron Rodgers upright for most of the game. Grading with the circumstances and his lack of experience in mind, Bakhtiari put together a solid performance. Like most rookies, he should improve significantly week to week as he acclimates to the speed of the NFL. Should the Packers and 49ers meet again this season, Bakhtiari will be a much tougher assignment for San Francisco's pass rushers.

Next week, the 49ers hit the road for a Sunday night matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, while the Packers host the Washington Redskins.
