The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Carolina Panthers on the road, 23-10, in the NFC Divisional Round. They did it in the way we've come to expect from Jim Harbaugh's team, with a suffocating defense and strong running game.
49ers vs. Panthers: Jim Harbaugh comments on divisional round win
The 49ers beat the Panthers and are headed back to the conference title game. Here’s what coach Jim Harbaugh had to say about the win and the upcoming game with the Seahawks.
After the game, Harbaugh was his usual self in the press conference, not dwelling too much on the win and already focused on the task next week. He did have praise for his team’s defensive performance, stating that “it was a real arm wrestling-like kind of struggle ... shutting them down in the second half was huge.“
Other than that, Harbaugh is already looking ahead to next week's clash with his old friend Pete Carroll, when the 49ers face the Seattle Seahawks on the road for the NFC championship. He says that his team will be ready and is "excited to have this chance at the ultimate chance."
The 49ers are in the conference championship game for the third year in a row and are looking for their sixth Super Bowl title in franchise history. Harbaugh's current game plan, for now, is simple.
