Arizona RB Ka’Deem Carey entering 2014 NFL Draft, per report

Carey could be the first running back off the board come May.

Arizona’s Ka’Deem Carey, considered by many experts to be the top running prospect of this year’s draft class, is heading to the NFL, according to Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports.

The junior reportedly received grades from at least two teams that projected him as a first-round selection. He did not crack the first round in SB Nation’s latest mock draft and is projected as a second-rounder at CBS Sports, though they rank him as the top overall running back prospect.

Carey was one of the nation’s most productive runners during his junior season, piling up 1,885 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground. He was named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year and received his second consensus All-American selection.

Carey, who has 4,239 career rushing yards, could have become the sixth player in college football history to run for more than 6,000 yards had he chosen to return for his senior season. A particularly monster year could have even pulled him close to Ron Dayne of Wisconsin, who holds the career rushing record at 6,397.
