Tom Brady misses practice Wednesday due to illness
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick played coy with reporters when pressed to elaborate on his quarterback’s status.
Tom Brady was held out of the portion of the New England Patriots practice open to media Wednesday due to llness, according to NFL.com. A source told Ian Rapoport that the quarterback was sick after Bill Belichick declined to reveal the reason for Brady's absence at his press conference Wednesday.
Belichick is typically reserved with reporters. He did manage to crack a smile and make the press room laugh during his presser, however. Asked when was the last time Brady surprised him, he answered “this morning.” When pressed to elaborate, Belichick assumed his mumble-growl once more and refused.
There is no reason yet to believe Brady's status for the AFC Championship game Sunday against the Denver Broncos is in jeopardy. Should he miss practice Thursday or Friday, however, there could be cause for concern for the Patriots. Brady was set to speak at Wednesday's presser, but his portion of the news conference was moved to Friday.
