2014 NFL Draft: Penn State WR Allen Robinson skipping senior year

The Nittany Lions star announced Thursday that he’s heading to the pros.

Wide receiver Allen Robinson has announced he will forgo his senior season at Penn State and enter the 2014 NFL Draft.

Mocking the draft: Teddy Bridgewater No. 1

Robinson, a two-time winner of the Big Ten Richter-Howard Receiver of the Year award, made his decision public Thursday via his Twitter account.

The 6’3, 210-pounder has the size, leaping ability and body control that NFL scouts drool over. He is rated the No. 6 receiving prospect by SB Nation’s draft experts and is projected to go in the first or second round.

“We are very excited for Allen,” interim head coach Larry Johnson told Paul Smith of FOX 43. “Allen has meant a great deal to our program at Penn State and we wish him all the best and continued success at the next level.”

Robinson led the Big Ten in receptions and receiving yardage in consecutive seasons, piling up a combined 174 catches and 2,450 yards the past two years. His 177 career grabs rank second in Penn State history and his 2,479 receiving yardage is good for third.

He finished as a semifinalist for this year’s Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation’s most outstanding receiver.
