Ravens interview Scott Linehan for offensive coordinator, per report

Linehan has spent the last five seasons working with the talented Lions offense.

The Baltimore Ravens have a vacancy at the offensive coordinator position after losing Jim Caldwell to the Detroit Lions so they could fill the position with a coaching swap. Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reported on Monday night that the Ravens interviewed former Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan for the vacancy.

Linehan, 50, was the offensive coordinator for five seasons with the Lions, but was let go by the team along with head coach Jim Schwartz after a 7-9 year that left the team out of the postseason. The talented Lions offense ranked sixth in the NFL in yardage gained, but was 13th in total points scored.

Still, that would be a huge upgrade for a Ravens offense that finished as one of the NFL's worst in 2013. Only three teams gained fewer offensive yardage during the season and the Ravens finished 25th in points scored, which was not enough to get the reigning Super Bowl champions into the playoffs.

Linehan previously served as the head coach of the St. Louis Rams for three seasons, but tallied an 11-25 record with the team before he was fired just four games into the 2008 season. Prior to that he had offensive coordinator experience with the Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings.
