Percy Harvin injury: Seattle WR expected to practice Wednesday

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

Percy Harvin was on the sideline for the victory in the NFC Championship over the San Francisco 49ers that sent the Seattle Seahawks to the Super Bowl, but he may be on his way toward participating in the Super Bowl against the Denver Broncos. On Monday, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told reporters that Harvin is likely to practice with the team on Wednesday (via The Seattle Times):

“We’re practicing on Wednesday. That would be the first chance and I think he has a very good chance to practice based on how he was on the weekend. He was in pretty good shape on the weekend. Still has to go through a couple clearances and all but we are kind of counting on him to be ready. Think he should be.”

Harvin, 25, played in just one regular season game with the Seahawks in 2013, as he struggled with a hip injury that required surgery for much of the year. He returned in time to participate in the Divisional Round of the postseason, but recorded only three receptions for 21 yards before suffering a concussion against the New Orleans Saints.

The Seahawks traded to acquire Harvin during the 2013 offseason, sending their 2013 first round selection as well as two picks in the 2014 NFL Draft to the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for the one-time Pro Bowl playmaker. He then signed a six-year, $64.25 million deal with the team shortly thereafter.

While no team allowed fewer yards or points, the Seahawks finished 2013 with the 17th ranked offense and 26th ranked pass offense. In two postseason victories, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has combined for 318 yards passing with one touchdown and no interceptions.
