Former Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Josh Brent received a sentence of 10 years probation and 180 days of jail on Friday for a drunk driving incident that resulted in the death of teammate Jerry Brown.

Brent, 25, was facing as much as 20 years in jail after a guilty sentence was handed down on Wednesday for a 2012 incident in Dallas. He was driving one night in December 2012 when he lost control of his Mercedes, resulting in the death of his passenger, Brown.
Tests measured Brent’s blood alcohol content at 0.18, more than double the Texas legal limit of 0.08.
