Super Bowl 2014: News and views from our team blogs

The Super Bowl is still eight days away, but the hype is just starting to kick into gear. We will have continuous coverage of the game all week here on SBNation, but our friendly team blogs are on the spotlight. Here is just a sampling of the excellent content being written every day on Field Gulls and Mile High Report.

Richard Sherman's tipped interception got all the headlines, but there was one play just as important to Seattle's win. On fourth down, Pete Carroll sent out the field goal unit, but Steven Hauschka decided to not try it. Instead, they went for it and Russell Wilson threw a 35-yard strike to Jermaine Kearse in the endzone. It gave the Seahawks the lead and changed the complexion of the game. Danny Kelly breaks the play down in detail.

The headline speaks for itself. Arthur points to drops by Broncos receivers, DVOA playoff odds, a top special teams unit, and the turnover battle as the main reasons Seattle will come away with the win.

Kyle Montgomery looks at how the Broncos and Seahawks got here in the first place, noting the different approaches each team used in finding their quarterback--the Broncos spent big on Peyton Manning, while the Seahawks found Russell Wilson in the third round. Otherwise, the two teams had a similar approach to roster construction.

Knowshon Moreno banged up his ribs in the AFC Championship game and missed practice this week. He was listed as questionable, but isn't expected to miss the game. Prater is dealing with an illness but is also expected to play. On the Seahawks' side, Marshawn Lynch and Doug Baldwin were held out for rest reasons and are listed as probable. Percy Harvin returned to a full practice and should be ready for the game.
