2014 Super Bowl week schedule: Times and locations for concerts, media events and more

There will be plenty going on in New York and New Jersey in the week leading up to Super Bowl XLVIII.

The Super Bowl is about much more than Super Bowl Sunday. Beginning with the teams' arrivals on Jan. 26 and stretching through to kickoff of the big game on Feb. 2, New York and New Jersey will be jam-packed with concerts, media events, fan activities and more.

Super Bowl XLVIII itself will start at 6:20 p.m. ET that Sunday, but there will be plenty of entertainment to tide you over until then. Here’s a list of the major activities and events scheduled for the week.

Sunday, Jan. 26

Team arrivals: The Broncos are scheduled to touch down in New Jersey in mid-afternoon, with the Seahawks landing several hours later. Both teams will hold a brief press conference with the head coach, quarterback and several other players.

Monday, Jan. 27

Super Bowl Kickoff Spectacular: The N.Y./N.J. Super Bowl Host Committee begins the week with a star-studded concert at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, N.J. The show, which runs from 7:30-9 p.m. ET, will feature performances by Daughtry, The Fray and Goo Goo Dolls.

VH1 Super Bowl Blitz Concert series: VH1 presents a six-night, six-concert series featuring shows in each of the five boroughs. The series, which begins on Jan. 27 and runs through Feb. 1, will feature J. Cole, Janelle Monae, Fall Out Boy, TLC, Goo Goo Dolls and Gavin DeGraw. Visit the VH1.com for concert specifics.

Tuesday, Jan. 28

Media Day: One of the biggest media bonanzas in sports will be begin at 10:30 a.m. ET at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Fans with pre-purchased tickets will be allowed in to watch from the stands.

Wednesday, Jan. 29

Super Bowl Boulevard: Beginning Jan. 29 and running through Feb. 1, 13 blocks along Broadway in New York City will be converted into a massive fan zone complete with photo opportunities with the Lombardi Trophy, autograph sessions and live broadcast sets.

Saturday, Feb. 1

DirecTV Celebrity Beach Bowl: NFL alumni, including Joe Montana and LaDainian Tomlinson, team up with celebrities like Tracy Morgan and Guy Fieri to play flag football in a heated tent in Manhattan's Hudson River Park. The game begins at 2 p.m ET.

Celebrity Flag Football Challenge: Another celebrity game will be held in Teaneck, N.J. This one will be headlined by Doug Flutie and Nelly and also starts at 2 p.m. ET.

Sunday, Feb. 2

Pregame coverage: FOX’s official pregame show begins at 2 p.m. ET and will run up until kickoff. It will include an interview by Bill O’Reilly with President Obama at 4:30 p.m. ET.

Super Bowl XLVIII: The big game kicks off at 6:20 p.m. ET from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. and will be broadcast on FOX. Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will perform at halftime.
