Defensive end Michael Bennett of the Seattle Seahawks has enjoyed an excellent season in his first season in the Northwest.
Michael Bennett would like to re-sign with Seahawks
One of Seattle’s better defensive players wants to stay in the Emerald City long term.

Acquired via free agency on a one-year, $5 million deal after spending his first four seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Bennett has made an immediate impact with 8.5 sacks on the year. Now, Bennett is talking about wanting to stay with the franchise long-term, per the Seattle Times.
“I don’t think about the money because it’s not in my account (laughing). You do want long-term deals, but I don’t think about it as much as some people think I think about it. I think about winning the game. I’m taking it one game at a time, taking care of this moment and playing for this team.”
“I would love to stay in Seattle. I love everything about the players, the coaches and the fans.”
Bennett led the team in sacks and Seattle has cap space should it want to re-sign him, but things aren't always as they appear. The Seahawks need to keep ample room under the salary cap with players like Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, Russell Wilson and Kam Chancellor on cheap rookies deals. Soon, those men will be looking for very rich extensions.
At 28 years old, Bennett will likely be looking for a deal of at least a couple of years with some decent guaranteed money. Bennett's deal could be similar to what Seattle gave Cliff Avril this year, which was two years and $15 million.
