SB Nation 2014 NFL Playoff Coverage

Tuesday was all about Super Bowl Media Day, and our local Broncos and Seahawks blogs have been busy with all the action. In the midst of that, it's easy to miss some quality content that might interest people. We're here to help out -- here are some recent articles on Mile High Report that are worth your time:

Controlling the Clock - Blueprint for Victory?

Unsurprisingly, Peyton Manning's offense is one of the most efficient in the league at controlling the clock and protecting leads. Bronco Mike examines what this means for the Seahawks' defense, who haven't faced many up-tempo offenses throughout the season.

Tactical Warfare - Zone Coverage vs. Bunch Formations

Mike takes a look at Seattle's use of zone coverage formations, complete with detailed screenshots. Specifically, he looks at how it was foiled in the Seahawks' early loss to the Colts. Julius Thomas will be a potential mismatch if they try to cover him one-on-one.

This is NOT the #1 Offense vs #1 Defense

The headline probably speaks for itself. Here’s just a sampling:

Even more, this isn’t really the fifth time the #1 offense and #1 defense squared off. It is in actuality, the FIRST time that the #1 yardage and scoring offense has squared off against the #1 yardage and scoring defense. Never before has a seasonal #1 offense and #1 defense in both categories squared off, so we can throw trends and stats and witty little quips out the window. But do you know what? None of that matters because the NFL has never seen an offense quite like this one!

Denver Broncos vs. Seattle Seahawks - Exposing a Fraud?

This headline is intentionally extreme, but Tim Lynch does wonder if the Seahawks' defense deserves to be mentioned among the greatest of all time. He believes that this unit has more in common with the 1989 Broncos than the 2002 Buccaneers, 1990 Giants or 2000 Ravens.

This exercise was a mixed bag of I don’t know what to think. It’s the great unknown, but the one number that stands out like a sore thumb is the sheer volume of points the Broncos have put up this season. It’s pretty incredible and if the Seahawks don’t find a way to keep up, it could get out of hand quickly for them.
