Super Bowl prop bets: The Richard Sherman Division

The inevitable Richard Sherman Super Bowl prop bets.

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

SB Nation 2014 NFL Playoff Coverage

The Super Bowl is incomplete without obnoxious, interesting and brilliant prop bets every year. The meeting between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks has plenty of prop bets, but there's no way this game could go without a Richard Sherman "Division" of prop bets to contemplate, thanks to OddsShark.

Will Richard Sherman receive a taunting penalty in the game?

Taunting penalty? Sherman had a single taunting penalty through the 2013 season and is playing in the biggest game of his life. That’s a silly penalty to stick your team with, but it’s bound to happen. This feels like a sucker’s bet, catching people caught up in the narrative for some easy money. Stop playing with our emotions.

Will Richard Sherman receive an unnecessary roughness penalty in the game?

This one feels a little more in the realm of reality, but still isn’t a plausible bet. Besides, where are the real prop bets? Get these flags outta’ here.

Will Richard Sherman receive a pass interference penalty in the game?

Pass interference is the safest bet you can make when it comes to penalty flags against Sherman, but the odds don’t exactly make it a great investment

And last, but certainly not least...

Will Richard Sherman be interviewed on field after the game by Erin Andrews on the live FOX broadcast?

Here’s the prop bet silliness we’ve grown to love. It was all but an inevitability the infamous interview would become a bet. Forget the deep analysis, what does your gut tell you here? Will Erin Andrews brave another interview with Sherman? Search your feelings to find if you know it to be true.

BONUS:

Will Michael Crabtree mention Richard Sherman in a tweet during the Super Bowl from kickoff until final whistle?

This is a low-key solid prop bet. Maybe Crabtree will take to his 140 characters to call Rodger Sherman a "mediocre" cornerback after Peyton Manning makes a touchdown rain on top of him. Or maybe not. Either way, this is another fun one to consider when looking for another gamble.
