Super Bowl prop bets 2014: Halftime show version

Bruno Mars and The Red Hot Chili Peppers are performing the halftime show. Place your bets now for these various activities that may or may not happen!

SB Nation 2014 NFL Playoff Coverage

Super Bowl 48 has a number of strange prop bets that have little to do with the actual game. One of the most popular bets involve the halftime show, and this year's show has its share of odd betting lines.

Bruno Mars is set to perform the show, with The Red Hot Chili Peppers opening for him. This sets up some interesting bets. According to oddsmaking site Bovada, “Locked Out of Heaven” is a 1/2 bet to be the first song sung by Mars, with “Treasure” and “Just The Way You Are” close behind at 5/1 odds. “Grenade” has 7/1 odds, with “Gorilla,” “Marry You” and “The Lazy Song” getting 15/1 odds.

Bruno Mars is known for his various headgear, and Vegas has that covered as well. He is given -150 odds to be wearing a fedora at the start of his show, followed by “No Hat” at +250, “tuque” at +500 and “fur hat” at +550. With the weather expected to be chilly, this is one of the safer bets of the show.

The eccentric Red Hot Chili Peppers are famous for performing shows in various stages of undress, so of course there are -120 odds for any member of the band being shirtless during their performance. Strangely enough, there are no lines on whether or not Flea will wear a tube sock.

The halftime show ratings should be huge, but Vegas isn’t expecting record numbers, giving it only +200 odds to break the all-time record. That record is currently held by Madonna in 2012 with 114 million viewers.
