Super Bowl schedule 2014 for Seahawks vs. Broncos: Complete weekend schedule

There are plenty of events leading up to the Super Bowl on Sunday. Here’s your weekend schedule for the pregame activities in New York and New Jersey.

Super Bowl XLVIII will be hosted in New Jersey, but the bulk of the events before the game are in New York City, the nation's media capital. So naturally, the NFL is going all-out in pregame festivities, and there is plenty of stuff to do if you're in the city.

Perhaps the biggest event on the Super Bowl schedule is the Super Bowl Boulevard, which opened on Wednesday and runs through Saturday. The Boulevard is a massive event that will span 13 blocks across Broadway. Highlights include live concerts, a virtual theater, toboggan run, autograph sessions with the players, and a display of the Vince Lombardi Trophy, which will be awarded to either the Seahawks or Broncos on Sunday. The Boulevard opens at noon (ET) every day it runs. A complete schedule of the events can be found here.

Of course, the actual game isn’t happening in New York City, and there are other things to do in New Jersey, the site of MetLife Stadium. The Star-Ledger has a good rundown of the local events happening in the area.

On Saturday, the NFL will announce its 2014 Hall of Fame inductees and host the Honors show, handing out the league’s MVP trophy and other awards, both hotly anticipated events among fans. FOX will televise the awards ceremony at 8 p.m. while the hall of fame announcement will likely come in the late afternoon.

Things reach a head on Sunday, when the game is finally played. The Super Bowl TV coverage starts at 3:30 p.m. on FOX, with a live concert featuring Phillip Phillips and The Band Perry. The national anthem will be sung by Renee Fleming and the game itself kickoffs around 6:25 p.m. The halftime show will feature Bruno Mars and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

For a thorough look at the events, head over to the official Super Bowl website.
