Broncos injury report for Super Bowl 2014: Knowshon Moreno probable

The Broncos have a few notable players on injured reserve, but nearly all of Denver’s active roster is expected to play in the Super Bowl

Despite a rib injury he suffered in the AFC Championship game, Knowshon Moreno participated in practice on Friday and is listed as probable for the Super Bowl. He is one of several Broncos nursing injuries, but nearly everyone on the 53-man active roster should be able to play on Sunday.

Moreno suffered the rib injury late in the game against New England. It forced him out of action during the fourth quarter and limited him in practice last week. Rib injuries can be especially problematic for running backs, given the number of hits they take every time they touch the ball. Some, including Houston's Ben Tate, have been able to play through rib injuries; it appears Moreno will do the same. If Moreno is limited, or forced out, Denver will turn to rookie Montee Ball and second-year back Ronnie Hillman.

Defensive tackle Terrance Knighton is nursing a knee injury while Tony Carter is dealing with a shoulder injury. Both were full participants in practice on Friday and are listed as probable. Backup defensive tackle Sione Fua was the only player on the active roster who didn't participate in the final practice of the week. He's been hampered by a calf injury and is listed as doubtful. Fua played a backup role this season, appearing in five games, and wasn't a lock to be on the active gameday roster.

Denver managed to get through the final practice of the week without any setbacks. The Broncos will conduct a walk-through at MetLife Stadium on Saturday.

Broncos Injury Report:

Probable: CB Tony Carter (shoulder), TE Joel Dreessen (knee), DT Terrance Knighton (knee), G Chris Kuper (ankle), QB Peyton Manning (ankle), RB Knowshon Moreno (ribs), K Matt Prater (illness), DT Mitch Unrein (knee), CB Kayvon Webster (thumb)

Doubtful: DT Sione Fua (calf)
