Chiefs vs. Colts, 2014 AFC Wild Card: Indy’s ‘stunning comeback’ frustrates KC fans

Colts fans are ecstatic following the comeback win.

Andy Lyons

The Kansas City Chiefs have now lost eight straight playoff games, but it's hard to think of one that hurt nearly as much as this one.

Kansas City led 38-10 in the third quarter, but they surrendered five touchdowns to the Indianapolis Colts to fall 45-44 in an incredible comeback led by three Andrew Luck touchdowns.

The two most important came in the fourth quarter, when Luck recovered a Donald Brown fumble and dove into the endzone for the five-yard touchdown, and then in a later drive found T.Y. Hilton for the game-winning 64-yard touchdown strike.

Chiefs fans are...not happy with how the game turned out, and over at Arrowhead Pride they’re refuting the notion that the Kansas City faithful should simply be happy with how the year went:

THIRTY EIGHT TO TEN. Second half. FOUR TOUCHDOWNS. Don’t even start with that “if I had told you before the season that the Chiefs would go 11-5 and make the playoffs you would have taken it” garbage. That is pointless, because if I had told you, when the Chiefs were 9-0, the only unbeaten team in the league, that they would finish the regular season 2-5 and then CHOKE away a HUGE lead in the playoffs, you WOULD NOT have taken it. No one would. A great season crashed and burned yet again. AGAIN.

Josh Wilson at Stampede Blue said the game reminded him of another big Colts' comeback in a playoff game that also involved a fumble:

That fumble return was reminiscent of the 2007 AFC Championship game, when the Colts fumbled but center Jeff Saturday picked it up for a score. In that game, the Colts pulled off a stunning comeback. In this game, Donald Brown fumbled but quarterback Andrew Luck picked it up for a score. In that game, the Colts pulled off a stunning comeback.
