2014 NFL Draft: Ronald Powell will leave Florida, per report

The Gators will see another star go pro with the declaration of Powell.

Florida Gators defensive end/linebacker Ronald Powell has declared for the 2014 NFL Draft, according to Mark Long of the Associated Press.

Powell, a 6’4” and 240-pound prospect, made an impression on those familiar with Gators football in the 2013 season A junior, Powell racked up four sacks on the year along with 26 tackles.

At his size, Powell will become an outside linebacker full-time in the NFL for whatever team drafts him. Considering his skill set as a pass rusher, teams that play the 3-4 defensive scheme will likely be his primary suitors.

Among players who were expected to come out in 2015, CBS Sports had Powell ranked as the fifth-best outside linebacker. Now that he has come out as a junior, he will have to impress at his pro day and the combine to shoot past some more polished players.
