Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer visited with a specialist to get a second opinion regarding the lingering nerve issue in his shoulder on Wednesday. He has been sidelined with the injury since Week 2 and it remains unclear when he will be able to return to game action.
Carson Palmer seeks 2nd opinion on sore shoulder
Palmer’s nerve issue in his shoulder is still a problem.

Coach Bruce Arians excused Palmer from practice on Wednesday to see the specialist and Palmer told ESPN's Ed Werder on Tuesday that the injury hasn't progressed as much he had hoped. Despite this, he still projected that he would be capable of starting in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos. Palmer has significant soreness in the shoulder and it is affecting his ability to throw the ball at full strength.
Palmer threw for 304 yards and two touchdowns in the Cardinals season-opening win over the San Diego Chargers, but has missed the last two games due to the injury. Drew Stanton has started in his place since then, leading the team to impressive wins over the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers and a still undefeated record. Sunday's game on the road against the Broncos would be the biggest test yet for the unproven Stanton, who had not won a game since 2010 before beating the Giants in Week 2.
