Dallas Cowboys defensive back C.J. Spillman is under police investigation for an alleged sexual assault, according to a report by NY Daily News.

Another NFL player is accused of assaulting a woman.


“We have a sexual assault report we are investigating at this time, and it does involve C.J. Spillman,” said Sgt. Robert Eberling, a police spokesman via the NY Daily News. “He is involved in the investigation. We are looking into the matter.”
According to the report, Spillman's alleged assault occurred on Sept. 20 at the the hotel the Cowboys were staying at. That was one day after NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's heavily criticized press conference regarding its discipline of Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson. Spillman was allowed to suit up for the Cowboys the following day in a game against the St. Louis Rams, although it's not made clear if Dallas knew of the allegations at that time.
The NY Daily News noted that civil rights attorney Gloria Allred sent a letter to Goodell on Sept. 26 stating she represented a woman who alleged a NFL player had raped her. The letter to the NFL and the report from the NY Daily News does not confirm whether Spillman was the NFL player involved. Allred declined comment. In the letter she said the player and a team official met with police on the day of the alleged incident and the player played the next day.
