Eagles player says Giants player isn’t very smart

The Sunday Night Football matchup just got even more interesting with some trash talk headed up the NJ Turnpike.

Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce is stirring the pot with some old-fashioned trash talk, making this Sunday's game against the New York Giants that much more fun. On Thursday, the Giants' Jason Pierre-Paul stated that the 4-1 Eagles could easily be 0-4, to which Kelce responded to by claiming that Pierre-Paul is 'not smart enough to come up with that statement on his own,' per the New York Daily News.

Kelce is injured and won’t be playing in the game Sunday, but nonetheless has stoked the flames. The offensive lineman also took a shot at Giants head coach Tom Coughlin, claiming that he must be the one who screwed up the math for Pierre-Paul. Kelce continued to say that the team, and Coughlin are not intelligent, despite winning two Super Bowls since the 2007 season.

The Eagles currently sit in first place in the NFC East at 4-1, tied with the Dallas Cowboys and one game ahead of the Giants, who are riding a three-game winning streak into Lincoln Financial Field. Still, it will probably be Kelce's quote that leads the headlines going into Sunday evening.

"I don’t think Jason Pierre-Paul is smart enough to come up with that statement on his own," Kelce told Angelo Cataldi. "I think he’s the type of guy that just reiterates what his coaches have been telling him. So, I’m a little worried about Tom Coughlin’s math because I feel like maybe that’s where it was screwed up. Maybe it was just relayed to him."

Going into Philadelphia has not been an overly daunting chore for the Giants in recent seasons. In fact, New York has won in two of its last three trips and three of its previous six. Philadelphia has had some issues against NFC East opponents at home since Chip Kelly took over before last season with a 2-2 mark, only beating Washington.
