The San Diego Chargers (4-1) are looking like Super Bowl contenders, looking to keep pace in the AFC West Sunday against the eternally hopeless Oakland Raiders (0-4). Philip Rivers is your early MVP candidate, while Derek Carr is simply trying to survive his rookie season.
Chargers vs. Raiders 2014: Online streaming, time, TV schedule and radio
San Diego is off to a great start while Oakland is off to a predictably terrible start. So will the Chargers still be at the top of the AFC West after Sunday?

We’ve seen this before from the Chargers. They can be a very good regular season team, but when it counts in the playoffs, things often fall apart. What could make this year any different? For one thing, they have a great defense, giving up just 290.8 yards per game and the second-fewest passing yards per game in the NFL.
Plus, Rivers is putting together one of the best seasons of his career. He has the best QB rating in the NFL (116.3) and has thrown for 1,443 yards and 12 touchdowns to go with just two interceptions. The thing that could bring down the Chargers is their running game, decimated by injuries. Right now, San Diego averages just 88 rushing yards per game.
The Raiders, well, they have a new coach. Not that that should fix anything, no matter how many footballs Tony Sparano tries to bury. Oakland is abysmal on offense, gaining the fewest yards per game (270). The defense isn’t much better, as the Raiders give up 158.3 rushing yards per game, second-most in the NFL. It’s a total mess all the way around and it won’t be getting better anytime soon.
