Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green has been declared inactive for Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers after sustaining a toe injury in practice on Wednesday. He was taken off the field on a cart and did not practice on Thursday or Friday.
A.J. Green injury: Bengals WR ruled out vs. Panthers
A.J. Green won’t play against the Carolina Panthers due to a toe injury. Mohamed Sanu will be the go-to guy for Andy Dalton.
That said, Green was listed as questionable on the official injury report so there was some hope that he could play. But given that the injury occurred in practice and with the lack of further practice time, it’s not surprising to see him inactive for this game. Unfortunately for the Bengals, that leaves them thin at the receiver position given the other injuries on offense.
Marvin Jones is dealing with injuries, and tight end Tyler Eifert is also banged up. That leaves Mohamed Sanu as the top healthy receiver in Cincinnati. Sanu has played well thus far in 2014, with 17 receptions for 234 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He's just behind Green, who has 17 receptions for 314 yards and two touchdowns as well.
It should be a tough matchup for the Bengals offensively. The Panthers may have been under-performing this year given how strong the defense was last season, but they still rank 16th in the league with 238.8 passing yards allowed per game.
