The woman who accused Dallas Cowboys safety C.J. Spillman of attempted rape last year will meet with Lisa Friel, the sex crimes adviser for NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, according to the New York Daily News. The woman is a client of civil rights attorney Gloria Allred, who has been outspoken against how the league has handled domestic and sexual assault cases in the wake of this year's incidents involving Ray Rice, Greg Hardy and Ray McDonald.
C.J. Spillman rape accuser to meet with NFL
A woman who accused safety C.J. Spillman of rape last year will meet with the NFL, as well as the league’s new sex crimes adviser.

According to the police report filed by Spillman's accuser, the then-San Francisco 49ers defensive back allegedly groped her, pinned her down and attempted to force oral sex after she had given him a massage at her studio in Santa Clara, Calif. Spillman reportedly denied the allegations to police, and no charges were filed.
Spillman is currently under investigation for sexual assault as a result of an incident that allegedly took place at the Cowboys’ hotel Sept. 20. Allred also represents the accuser in that case, though that client will not meet with Friel at this time.
Friel was hired by the NFL in September as part of Goodell’s response to allegations that the league hasn’t been tough enough on players in cases of domestic violence and sexual assault. Friel was in charge of sex crimes prosecutions in the New York City District Attorney’s office prior to partnering with the NFL.
Allred called her client’s case a test:
“This is the first case that will be investigated by Lisa Friel. I see this as a test of their process. What will they do? What will their process be?”
