Cam Newton injured his right throwing hand against the Cincinnati Bengals in the fourth quarter on Sunday. With the Panthers facing third and 13, Newton hit his hand on the helmet of a Panthers offensive lineman. The ball was intercepted and the Bengals kicked a field goal on the ensuing possession to take a 34-31 lead with just over two minutes remaining in the game.

Newton was having a big game against Cincinnati. He entered without a rushing touchdown this season, but broke through with a 12-yard run for a score in the third quarter. Newton had 69 yards on 11 carries before the injury.
Newton was throwing the ball well, too. Before the injury, he was 21-of-32 for 219 and two touchdowns. The interception thrown on the play that resulted in the injury was his first intercepted pass of the day.
