How do you feel after this tie? Rivera: "Bleh"
— Jonathan Jones (@jjones9) October 12, 2014 Ron Rivera said a lot of weird things about the Panthers’ tie with the Bengals

Ron Rivera can be forgiven for behaving like he woke up from a fever dream after the Carolina Panthers’ 37-37 tie with the Cincinnati Bengals. It was the first time in the 20-year history of the team that it happened, and it occurred because he chose to go for a field goal on fourth-and-1 in overtime, instead of trying for the win. After the game the coach seemed completely confused by what happened.
Rivera: Not going to treat this as a loss.
— Joe Person (@josephperson) October 12, 2014 That’s a “glass half full” way of looking at it, we suppose. No reason to treat your tie like a loss. Especially when it was absolutely 100 percent a tie.
Rivera: Lot of guys played well, to come away with a tie was odd.
— Joe Person (@josephperson) October 12, 2014 Again, you played to tie the game by kicking that field goal. What was odd about tying?
Rivera said if ball was inside 4-and-1 he would have gone for it. Was just outside of a yard. A long 1 1/2, 1 3/4
