Adam Jones didn't pull any punches when asked where the blame lays for his Cincinnati Bengals' tie with the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. The cornerback placed it squarely on the shoulders of kicker Mike Nugent, who missed a 36-yard field goal wide right as time expired in overtime to seal the highest-scoring tie in NFL history.
Adam Jones blames kicker Mike Nugent for Bengals’ tie with Panthers
Jones told reporters after the game that the struggling Mike Nugent needs to do his job.

“We were in a perfect position to win the game, two seconds left on the clock, we’ve got to win the game,” Jones told reporters via NFL.com. “Everybody in here gets paid to do a job and that’s what everybody needs to do.”
More good news
It’s been a tough start to 2014 for Nugent, who has now missed six of his 17 attempts. Jones stopped short of saying the team should bring in a new kicker, but didn’t sound entirely opposed to the notion.
“I didn’t say that, but I said everybody gets paid to do a job,” he said. “So perform and do your job, that’s all I’m saying.”
Jones may want to take a look at his fellow secondary mates before he goes pointing the finger squarely at Nugent. The Bengals allowed Cam Newton to move the Panthers 54 yards in the final 2:11 of regulation to set up the tying field goal and send the game into overtime. Jones himself allowed six receptions for 34 yards in the game.
