Initial fears that the knee injury suffered by Darren Sproles late in the Philadelphia Eagles' Sunday night win would knock him out for the rest of the season are reportedly misplaced. Geoff Mosher of CSN Philly reports that the running back did not tear his ACL and that he is "probably out a few weeks."
Darren Sproles avoids ACL tear, per report
Sproles has been spared from a serious knee injury and could be up and running in a matter of weeks.

Howard Eskin of Fox 29 reports Sproles has a sprained MCL that will keep him out two to three weeks.
Sproles gets a long recovery period as the Eagles head into their bye week, but Mosher noted that the veteran "would have to be a very quick healer" to make it back in time for the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 26.

Head coach Chip Kelly said Sproles would undergo an MRI on Monday after his leg was bent back awkwardly in the third quarter against the New York Giants. Sproles told reporters after the game, "I'll be all right," a sentiment mimicked by his coach on Monday.
“The one thing is I would never count Darren out of anything. He’s just such a tough kid, a tough man,” Kelly said, via the team’s website. “We need him. I hope everything comes out positive today.”
That the Eagles need Sproles is a serious understatement. His 409 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns (one of which came on Sunday) have provided a much-needed spark to a ground game that has struggled at times. On top of that, an injury to third-stringer Chris Polk left Sproles and LeSean McCoy as the only active running backs on the roster on Sunday. After Sproles' exit, the team was forced to hand the ball off to tight end Trey Burton in garbage time.
Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson took issue with the tackle who injured Sproles, saying he thought Giants defender Markus Kuhn made a dirty play while rolling Sproles off of him at the end of the play.
“It made me pretty mad, the way it was on the field,” Johnson said to Tim McManus of Birds 24/7. “Kind a cheap-shot kind of deal.”
