Ryan Broyles spouted off on social media Sunday night after his team's 17-3 win over the Minnesota Vikings, but Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell cautioned against making a big deal of the wide receiver's comments.
Jim Caldwell’s ‘door is always open’ to disgruntled receiver Ryan Broyles
The even-keeled Lions head coach doesn’t overreact to his receiver’s social media outburst.

Through six games, Broyles has been a forgotten man in the Lions’ passing game, catching just one pass on three targets. The receiver garnered just two snaps on Sunday despite Calvin Johnson missing the game with an ankle injury. This comes on the heels of a monster preseason in which Broyles led Detroit in receptions (11) and yards (144). Consequently, he feels entitled to more run on offense.
It's tough to keep a smile on your face when you feel like u are being held back but remember you are where u are for a reason!

— Ryan Broyles (@RyanBroyles) October 12, 2014 I'm glad my tweets motivate some while rubbing some the wrong way. We are all different for a reason and that's why I love people!
— Ryan Broyles (@RyanBroyles) October 12, 2014 While such actions by player may enrage some head coaches, Caldwell seemed mostly unconcerned, minimizing the social media outburst as part of “the world which we live in.” He told reporters Monday that he understands that he can do a better job of communicating with his players and assuaging their concerns.
“I do think this is my responsibility to make certain guys know if they’re feeling a little bit uncomfortable about where they are, where they line up, what their position is, how they play, in terms of their role, they should come talk to one of the assistant coaches, then to the coordinator, then to me,” Caldwell said. “But even my door is always open. We have an open-door policy.”
Caldwell later stated that he's yet to discuss the issue with Broyles, but he promises a "brutally honest" assessment. The receiver is battling with Corey Fuller and Jeremy Ross for playing time.
