Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning climbed into a tie with Brett Favre for the top spot on the all-time leaderboard on Sunday with his 508th career passing touchdown. His second touchdown pass of the night against the San Francisco 49ers knotted him up with Favre, the only other quarterback to eclipse 500 career touchdowns.
Peyton Manning ties all-time passing touchdown record
Brett Favre said last week that he’s happy it’s Peyton Manning that will take down his record for career touchdown passes.

Favre told the Associated Press two weeks ago that he isn’t sad to see the record go:
“I’m glad it’s Peyton that’s doing it,” Favre told the AP in a phone interview from his home in Mississippi. “I think a lot of Peyton. I know him well. I know his family well. His dad was one of my idols.”
“I’m not surprised, as well as he’s been playing for so many years,” Favre said. “I think as far as wanting to hold onto the record, I mean I have no feelings of, ‘Oh, my gosh. I wish I could hold onto that.’ None whatsoever.”
Favre played in 302 games with 298 career starts to accumulate his 508 career touchdowns as a member of the Green Bay Packers, New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings. Manning threw as many touchdowns in his 246 career games, all of which were starts, for the Broncos and Indianapolis Colts.
Manning, who also nabbed the record for most touchdown passes in a single season in 2013 with 55, told the AP that he believes the record will be short-lived, as a pass happy league with young stars like Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson will likely catch up with him quickly. Still, both of those passers are far off the pace set by Manning and will have to worry about the longevity necessary to rack up the number.
Favre still holds the record for all-time passing yardage with 71,838, which Manning trails by more than 5,000 yards.
