The AFC West-leading San Diego Chargers will try to make it six straight wins when they welcome the division rival Kansas City Chiefs to Qualcomm. A victory could further insulate the Chargers from the Denver Broncos, who face a tough matchup with San Francisco in primetime.

The Chiefs haven't looked anything like the team that won nine straight games to open up 2013. Head coach Andy Reid, who turned the team around when he arrived last year, has been regularly confounded by his piecemeal offensive line. The other side of the ball has fared better, but still has room to improve. That could come with the development of first-round pick Dee Ford, who has seen little playing time thus far.

Despite a cavalcade of injuries, the Chargers continue to roll. The offensive line and backfield have been hit the hardest, forcing journeymen like Rich Ohrnberger to step into big roles. The catalyst for their success has been Philip Rivers, who at 32 is in the midst of his best season. No quarterback has been more locked in than Rivers this year, making him the early front runner for league MVP.

A year removed from an 11-5 record and a playoff berth, the Chiefs find themselves mired in an offensive slump, averaging more than three points fewer per game than in 2013. An offensive line that lost three starters in the offseason lost yet another when Jeff Allen underwent season-ending surgery on his elbow. The line has greatly hindered All-Pro tailback Jamaal Charles, whose 48.8 rushing yards per game and 4.6 yards per carry average are the lowest since he became a starter.

Philip Rivers' numbers have been phenomenal. Through his first six games, Rivers has posted 285.5 yards per contest by averaged 8.8 yards per pass. He has also tossed 15 touchdowns against just two picks. He has done this despite a running back carousel that has currently stopped on Branden Oliver. The rookie tailback has 57 carries on the year (45 of which come in just the past two weeks) for 249 yards and two touchdowns. Oliver has added 124 yards and another score in the passing game.
