Seahawks tried to trade Percy Harvin for Julius Thomas, Jordan Cameron

The Seahawks were apparently in the market for Pro Bowl tight ends, but Percy Harvin wasn’t cutting it as compensation.

The Seattle Seahawks settled for a conditional draft pick from the New York Jets that could become as much as a fourth-round pick in exchange for wide receiver Percy Harvin, but not before they dreamed big and shot for the stars.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Seahawks asked if the Denver Broncos would be willing to part with Pro Bowl tight end Julius Thomas in exchange for Harvin, and according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the team asked if the Cleveland Browns would be willing to trade their own Pro Bowl tight end, Jordan Cameron.

Evidently the Seahawks were in pursuit of top tight end talent and evidently nobody was convinced that Harvin was proper compensation. Thomas tallied 788 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns in 2013 and currently leads the NFL with nine touchdowns in 2014, while Cameron finished 2013 with 917 receiving yards and seven touchdown receptions.

One can’t help but wonder if the negotiations with the Jets began with a request for tight end Jace Amaro. Keep dreaming big, Seattle.
