— Brian Orakpo (@rak98) October 20, 2014 Orakpo, 28, suffered the injury in a 19-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. If Washington's fears are realized, it will the third time in his career he's torn his pectoral muscle. While the first two tears, suffered in 2011 and 2012, were both in Orakpo's left pectoral, this injury is to the right pectoral.
Orakpo entered the season under a one-year deal worth $11.455 million due to the team’s application of the franchise tag in the offseason. That means Orakpo might have played his last game in Washington.
Through the first seven games of the season, Orakpo failed to match his production from previous seasons, as he notched just a half sack and 24 total tackles. The three-time Pro Bowler has 40 career sacks and gives Washington a solid pass rusher opposite Ryan Kerrigan.
With Orakpo out of the lineup, Washington will likely rely on 2014 second-round pick Trent Murphy to take his place in the starting lineup.
