Packers vs. Saints: Betting odds, preview and prediction

Green Bay hopes to continue its hot streak on the road against slumping New Orleans.

Joe Robbins

The Green Bay Packers are just 1-7 straight up and against the spread in their last eight games as a road underdog. The Packers hope to turn that around against the slumping Saints on Sunday night in New Orleans.

Green Bay is a small, 1-point road underdog at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Picking against the Saints at home is usually a dangerous proposition, but the current form of these two teams suggests that the Packers should be able to come away with a win.

Aaron Rodgers told Packers fans to relax after panic started brewing around Green Bay’s 1-2 SU and ATS start. He clearly knew what he was talking about; since the slow start, Green Bay is 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS and averaging 36.3 points per game. Green Bay is just 1-3 ATS in its last four games against the Saints and would love to break that slump as well.

OddsShark Computer Prediction: Green Bay 30.1, New Orleans 25.9

The Packers visit the Saints at 8:30pm ET on Sunday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Jumping out to a 17-3 lead in the third quarter last week against Denver and entering the final five minutes of play up 23-10, it looked as if New Orleans was finally going to break out of its road slump. Instead, the Lions scored twice in the final four minutes of the game to win 24-23. New Orleans fell to 2-4 SU and ATS on the season. The Saints are 10-0 SU and 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 games at home.

The over is 7-0 in the last seven meetings between these two teams and 8-0 in Green Bay’s last eight road games before a bye week. Sunday night’s total is set at 55 points at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

New Orleans’ road struggles are well documented, but even at home the Saints haven’t been all that impressive with a 20-9 win against Minnesota and a 37-31 overtime win against Tampa Bay. The Saints haven’t done anything this season to suggest that they can beat a team of Green Bay’s caliber, even at home. Take the Packers +1 on the road.
