The Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Rams were both supposed to lose last week, but both came away victorious.

The two teams from the Show Me State showed plenty in big wins last week, and will try to back it up Sunday.

Kansas City went on the road and dispatched the San Diego Chargers, snapping San Diego's five-game winning streak while putting itself in good position at 3-3. St. Louis saved its playoff hopes by beating the defending-champion Seattle Seahawks, largely riding Austin Davis and some tricky special teams to improve to 2-4.
For Kansas City, the formula for success is running the ball and defense. The Chiefs rank third in the NFL with 140.3 rushing yards per game behind the balanced attack of All-Pro Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis. Charles set Kansas City's all-time rushing record last week, now totaling 6,113 yards. Charles has averaged 5.5 yards per carry throughout his career, the highest mark in NFL history. Defensively, the Chiefs rely on outside linebackers Justin Houston and Tamba Hali to apply pressure. Houston has seven sacks and Hali four, helping the pass defense check in at second in the NFL despite Eric Berry missing the last four games with an ankle injury.
The Rams will need to stiffen defensively, because currently they are being gashed for 145 rushing yards per game, which ranks 28th in the league. St. Louis has the talent up front to do it with a couple of first-round picks leading the way in Robert Quinn and Aaron Donald.
On the other side of the ball, Davis has been superb as a fill-in for Sam Bradford. Davis has completed 66 percent of his passes and tossed nine touchdowns against four picks. Davis has also eclipsed 300 yards twice without the benefit of a great ground attack, paced by Tre Mason and Benjamin Cunningham.
