The winless Oakland Raiders will try again for win No. 1, this time against the Cleveland Browns. Oakland has performed better since firing head coach Dennis Allen, while Cleveland has played up (and down) to the level of the competition.

The winless Raiders have a rare, winnable matchup with the Browns.

While the Raiders weren't predicted to compete for the playoffs this season, they have still managed to fall short of expectations. In addition to firing Allen, the team has also changed its starting quarterback and made several other adjustments to an injured defense. This week, Oakland learned it would be without defensive end LaMarr Woodley for the rest of the season.
The Browns, meanwhile, have played well above expectations, even with a few bumps in the road. Quarterback Brian Hoyer has solidified his hold on the starting job despite first-round pick Johnny Manziel breathing on his neck. Hoyer isn't coming off a very good week, but remains the starter. In the backfield, Ben Tate and Isaiah Crowell have formed one of the league's better tailback tandems.
Few things have gone right for the Raiders in 2014. They have scored the second-fewest points in the league on a per game basis while yielding the 25th-most on defense. Just as troubling, rookie quarterback Derek Carr is currently worst among starting quarterbacks in yards per attempt, though he has played better of late.
In the absence of Josh Gordon, free agent addition Andrew Hawkins has stepped up for the Browns, leading the team in receiving yards with 382 receiving yards. Rookie receiver Taylor Gabriel has been a pleasant surprise, amassing 257 yards through the air while averaging 18.4 yards per catch.
