Chicago Bears defensive end Lamarr Houston will be sidelined for the rest of the season after he tore his ACL during a sack celebration Sunday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Houston underwent an MRI Monday morning on his right knee, confirming the tear.
Sack celebration claims 2nd victim, Bears DE Lamarr Houston
Houston injured himself as he celebrated his first sack of the year and now the Bears defensive end will miss the remainder of the season.

Houston, 27, celebrated a sack of New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in the second half of a game that was dominated by the Patriots. New England was already ahead 48-23 at the time of Houston's injury and went on to add a field goal on the same drive, eventually winning 51-23. The rookie Garoppolo took over for starting quarterback Tom Brady once the game was well out of hand.
After the sack celebration, Houston had to be carted off the field when he failed to stick the landing:
Houston shrugged off the way the injury occurred in postgame comments with Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune:
“I probably shouldn’t have celebrated like that,” said Houston in the locker room when he revealed there will be an MRI Monday. “But it happens.”
The Bears signed Houston to a five-year deal worth $35 million as a free agent acquisition in March and has a guaranteed base salary of $5.95 million in 2015. He previously played four seasons with the Oakland Raiders, where he accumulated 16.5 sacks over four seasons. His sack of Garoppolo was his first of the season and first with the team.
Detroit Lions linebacker Stephen Tulloch suffered a season-ending knee injury doing a remarkably similar celebration earlier in the year.
Despite the absurdity of this happening not once, but twice this season, Tulloch apparently has no regrets, telling Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, “I’d do it again, brother. You do it every time. If it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen. Just a matter of time.”
