Calvin Johnson ‘definitely expects to play’ vs. Dolphins

The Lions star wideout will finally return to the field after sitting out for the last three games.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson said he "definitely expects to play" Sunday after missing the last three weeks due to a lingering ankle injury.

Johnson has missed the Lions' last three games, including the team's comeback over the Atlanta Falcons in London on Sunday. The team's upcoming bye allows Megatron to rest up a bit more before returning to the field for the second half of the season.

Despite the loss of Johnson, Detroit is sitting in a strong position atop the NFC North at 6-2. The addition of the team's all-time leader in receiving yards will add an impact player at a key time with games against the Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots coming up.

The good news is that with Johnson's absence, Golden Tate has stepped up and become another strong target for quarterback Matthew Stafford. Tate has 17 catches for 305 catches and two touchdowns in the last two games alone.

Johnson has 22 catches for 348 yards and two touchdowns for the season.
