NFL odds: Opening spreads for Week 9 betting

A key NFC South game between New Orleans and Carolina on Thursday kicks off the Week 9 betting card.

Chris Graythen

The Carolina Panthers are 9-3 SU and 9-2-1 ATS over their last 12 games at home. Carolina hopes to use its home field advantage to top the Saints when New Orleans visits Bank of America Stadium this Thursday night.

Carolina is a 2.5-point home underdog at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. New Orleans is coming off of an excellent performance in a 44-23 win over Green Bay, but the Saints are just 2-10 SU and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 road games, including an 0-7 ATS record in their last seven games as a road favorite.

The Denver Broncos visit the New England Patriots in the most highly anticipated game of the weekend this Sunday. Both teams have won four straight games, with New England going 3-1 ATS and the Broncos going 4-0 ATS over those winning streaks. The Patriots are 26-3 SU in their last 29 games at home and will be a home underdog for the second time this season going off at +3 against the Broncos.

The most lopsided game on the betting board pits the lowly 0-7 SU Oakland Raiders against the defending champion Seattle Seahawks in Seattle on Sunday. Seattle is a 15-point home favorite at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Seattle Seahawks are 19-2 SU and 15-6 ATS over their last 21 games at home, while the Raiders are 1-14 SU and 8-7 ATS over their last 15 games on the road.

Baltimore at Pittsburgh is the night game on Sunday. Sportsbooks have deemed the game too close to call as the line has been set as a pick’em. Five of the last six games in this head-to-head series have been decided by a field goal or less, and the last 18 games have been split 9-9 SU for both teams. Pittsburgh is 5-0 SU and 4-1 ATS in its last five games against AFC North rivals at home.

On Monday night, the Indianapolis Colts are a 3-point road favorite against the New York Giants. The New York Giants have been a home underdog 12 times since 2004 and are 2-10 SU over that stretch.
