Tom Brady eclipses 50,000 career passing yards

Touchdown Tom is reaching milestones again.

Jim Rogash

Last week, Aaron Rodgers became the fourth-quickest NFL player to reach 25,000 yards passing. Not to be outdone, Tom Brady reached his own yardage milestone on Sunday night, breaking the 50,000-yard career passing mark against the Cincinnati Bengals. Brady passed the landmark with a 27-yard pass to Rob Gronkowski.

Only five other quarterbacks have ever breached 50,000 yards -- Brett Favre, Peyton Manning, Dan Marino, Drew Brees and John Elway -- and Manning, Brees and Brady are the only active players to have done so. Brady is now just 1,454 yards away from passing Elway (51,475) for fifth in all-time career yardage.

Brady accomplished the feat in his 198th career game. Brees became the fastest to 50,000 last season with 183 games, breaking Manning's record of 191. It's been a historic month for Brady. Two weeks ago against the Oakland Raiders, he became just the third quarterback in league history to notch 150 career wins. He sits behind only Brett Favre (186) and Manning (170).

Brady kept rolling and hit Tim Wright for a touchdown not long later. The crowd enjoyed the effort, with the Gillette Stadium faithful breaking into a Brady chant.

Things are looking up in New England compared to a week ago.
