On Sunday afternoon, the Chicago Bears will visit the Carolina Panthers in a contest that could go a long way in determining some NFC playoff spots down the road. Both teams are 2-2 and figure to be in the mix at the end, meaning the winner of this game holds a potential tiebreaker. While neither team has looked great lately, one will emerge feeling much better with the other frantically searching for answers.

Carolina tries to break its losing streak while Chicago aims to avoid one in an important NFC matchup.

Chicago appeared to be on the road to success. An overtime loss in Week 1 to the Bills was quickly washed away by excellent road wins against the 49ers and Jets in primetime. However, the Bears came crashing to Earth last weekend, losing 38-17 at home to the Packers. Even more alarming, Chicago lost by 21 points despite converting 33 first downs, amassing 235 rushing yards and having over 36 minutes in time of possession.
The Panthers began the season 2-0 with impressive victories over the Buccaneers and Lions, the former without Cam Newton. Carolina's fortunes turned when it was blasted 37-13 by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Le'Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount combined for 265 yards and a touchdown while the Panthers had just 42 rushing yards. Last week, things remained ugly in a 38-10 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens, which included two touchdowns for former Carolina star, Steve Smith. The defense was bad, allowing 10 third-down conversions on 13 attempts.
