Coming into the weekend, only two tight ends in NFL history had ever gone over the 10,000-yard receiving mark. Now there's a third. Longtime Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten joined Tony Gonzalez and Shannon Sharpe on that elite list with a 34-yard catch down the seam from quarterback Tony Romo against the Houston Texans on Sunday.

Witten became the second fastest player to ever reach the milestone, doing so in just 180 career games. Gonzalez reached 10,000 in 177 games; Sharpe did so in 203.
Witten, a 32-year-old in his 12th NFL season, is showing no signs is remaining a productive player late into his career. Though he hasn’t found the end zone yet this season, he ranks second on the team with 15 receptions and third with 156 receiving yards.
Sharpe is already in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Gonzalez will be joining him soon enough. As if it wasn’t a forgone conclusion before this weekend, Witten’s milestone likely ensures he’ll one day have a bust in Canton as well.
